GUIDANCE NOTES

The Annual Symposium will run from the morning of Monday 10 April to the afternoon of Tuesday 11 April 2006.

This booking DOES NOT include accommodation. To book accommodation, please visit:
www.edinburghfirst.com/accommodation/availability.asp (link opens in new window)

Student discount will ONLY be given on single, standard accommodation booked through the Edinburgh First website listed on this form. Students wanting to obtain the discount must claim retrospectively by sending their receipt to the BES office (address below). Refunds will be issued as soon as possible.

The booking form must be accompanied by full payment, as no registration or lunches will be reserved without it.

If your institution is issuing a cheque for payment do not rely on your finance office to forward your booking form to the BES. On many occasions finance officers have failed to send us forms which results in obvious problems.

When the BES receives your booking form, it will be processed and a letter of confirmation plus joining instructions will be sent to you as soon as possible.

You should print and keep a copy of the completed form for your records.

Send your booking form by one method only, do not send copies via both mail and fax. Online booking will be available via the BES website. Check your booking confirmation carefully to ensure that what you require has been booked.

STUDENT AND EARLY CAREER SUPPORT

BES student members are eligible for a 50% discount on the cost of lunch and registration. To obtain the discount on accommodation, students must claim retrospectively by sending their receipt to the BES office (address below). Discount will ONLY be given on single, standard accommodation booked through the Edinburgh First website listed on this form.

Support is also available for unemployed post-doctoral ecologists. They may apply for a 50% discount on the cost of single, standard accommodation booked through Edinburgh First, lunches and registration. You will need to submit a 'Student and Early Career support for attendance at BES meetings' application form available from the website. Completed forms must be returned by 17 March 2006.

REGISTRATION & MEALS

If you wish to attend the meeting you must apply online or return a booking form. All bookings must be completed by 17 March 2006 at the latest. Please note that places are limited and early booking is advised.

This booking does not included accommodation. If you want to book accommodation, please book directly through the university: www.edinburghfirst.com/accommodation/availability.asp (link opens in new window)

Members of the BES are eligible for a reduced registration fee. If non-members complete and return a membership form with payment of subscription fees for 2006 at the same time, they are also eligible for the reduced registration fee.

Membership of the BES costs only £35 per year (£20 for student/retired/reduced rate) and gives great benefits like cheap journal subscriptions as well as reduced registration fees for BES Meetings. Membership forms are available from the BES website or the office.

Meals will available from outlets on campus and nearby restaurants.

POSTERS

If you would like to present a poster at the meeting you should tick the box on the front of the form. You must submit an abstract of your poster through the BES website. Abstracts must be submitted by 10 March 2006. You will be advised if your abstract has been accepted by email.
