GUIDANCE NOTES

The Annual Symposium will run from 09.00 on Thursday 29 March to late afternoon on Friday 30 March.

Everyone who wishes to attend the meeting, including invited speakers and poster presenters, must register. Unless you are an invited guest bookings will not be processed without full payment.

Registration prices are: Members £130, Non members £200, Students £60.

BES Membership costs £35 or £20 for students, retired or for people from reduced rate countries. Benefits include subsidised Journal subscriptions, 20% off Blackwell Publishing titles, member-only grants as well as reduced registration fees. Membership forms are available from the BES website.

Non-members who return a membership form with payment of subscription fees together with the meeting booking, will be eligible for the Members’ registration fee.

Day registration, costing £100, is available from the Registration Desk during the meeting, but anyone who wishes to book meals and/or accommodation must book in advance.

If your institution is issuing a cheque for payment, do not rely on your Finance Office to forward your booking form to the BES. On many occasions finance officers have failed to send us forms, which results in obvious problems.

When we receive your booking form, it will be processed and a letter of confirmation plus joining instructions will be sent to you. You should keep a copy of the completed form for your records. Send your booking form by one method only, do not send copies via both mail and fax. Check your booking confirmation letter against your booking form to ensure that all the meals and accommodation you require have been booked.

MEALS & ACCOMMODATION

Breakfast is included in the price of accommodation. The number of standard and ensuite rooms is limited and bookings are dealt with in order of receipt. All accommodation is in student halls of residence and breakfast is provided within the cost. Dinners will be served at the halls of residence. Lunch will be a cold buffet. The Conference Dinner is a fixed menu and the price includes a ½ bottle of wine.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Only BES Student Members are eligible for a 50% reduction in registration, meal and standard accommodation costs.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The deadline for poster abstract submission is 15 February 2007. If you are submitting abstracts to the meeting, you must complete a booking form.

QUERIES

Any queries regarding the Annual Symposium should be directed to the BES office (meetings@BritishEcologicalSociety.org). The programme of talks is on the BES website and abstracts should be available at the beginning of 2007.
