Bulletin

The BES Bulletin is published quarterly and goes out to all members (the cost is included in the BES membership).

Why join the BES and receive the Bulletin?

The Bulletin includes exclusive articles that are not available anywhere else! The Bulletin is published in print – so you can read it on the train, in the bath... It includes information about the BES, such as upcoming grants and their deadlines, and how you can contribute to ecology and the Society. The Bulletin also includes details of forthcoming meetings and meeting reports. Outside of BES news, the Bulletin publishes letters and longer articles on all aspects of ecological research or its applications, including science policy, education and careers, and recent methodological developments. The Bulletin publishes regular comments from our correspondents at the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, English Nature, Murdoch University in Australia and Kyushu University in Japan. It also includes short book reviews, grant reports, a diary of conferences and workshops, short news items – and a chance to win a free t-shirt! And, there are lots of other benefits to being a member of the BES.

Submission of material to the Bulletin

Would you like to contribute an article or a piece of news to the Bulletin? Ideally, material should be submitted electronically, by e-mail or on disk, either in Word (*.doc) or rich text (*.rtf) format. Pictures should be sent as TIFF (*.tif) or JPEG (*.jpg) files by preference, with PC users saving with a Mac option where offered. The deadline dates for submission are given below. Contact the Editor if you have any queries or would like to discuss a possible submission beforehand. Bulletin articles are not peer reviewed.

Articles and information published elsewhere can be reproduced in the Bulletin only if the contributor obtains permission of the author and the copyright holder, and clearly identifies the original publication.
