Electronic Access to BES Journals

The entire back catalogue of BES Journals is available online. Current issues, up to three years old, are available through Blackwell Publishing's digital service, Synergy. Archive issues, more than three years old, are available through JSTOR.

Individual access - current issues

BES members who subscribe to at least one Journal in print can access current issues for free via Synergy. Synergy increases the quality of your research time, with…

  • Reference links from full text articles to MEDLINE, ISI and ADS databases
  • Direct links to cited articles in other journals
  • High quality figures and tables
  • Free copying for course packs
  • Access to all available online back volumes
  • Email alerts for the latest tables of contents
  • The Synergy site has online held for Society members to register but you will need your BES membership number for access.


Individual access - eJournals (current and archive issues)

If you want to combine easy access to current and archive issues then the new subscription service, eJournals, is for you. For just £20 + VAT per year BES Members receive access to current issues of all four Journals via Synergy and access to all archive issues via JSTOR. JSTOR is a not-for-profit organisation committed to the electronic archiving of scholarly journals and literature. This new service to members gives instant desktop access and search facilities to hundreds of ecological research papers going back to 1913.


Institutional access

Institutions can subscribe to electronic copies of BES Journals through
