Welcome to the Functional Ecology webpage
Functional Ecology is aimed at a broad readership of ecologists interested in work that explores in depth the links between the development of organisms and their relationship with nature. Papers published focus on the roles, or functions, that species play in the community or ecosystem in which they occur. Physiological, anatomical, and life history characteristics of species are emphasized in standard papers, reviews, technical reports and forum articles. The Editors of the journal are interested in experimental, comparative and theoretical studies in functional ecology, and in particular research and synthesis that is potentially applicable to other species, populations, communities, or ecosystems. Papers of a descriptive nature, or that focus on population dynamics (without investigation of the underlying factors) will not be accepted for publication in Functional Ecology Why publish in Functional Ecology? • The 2006 Functional Ecology ISI® Impact Factor is 3.417. We are 16th in the ranking of 114 ecology journals
