An English journal in 1897 claimed that "electricity would extirpate song birds" by killing off their insect food supply. It may well have taken 112 years but it appears to be happening that insectivorous creatures, generally, are now in decline. Has anyone noticed? The CPRE have noticed that light at night, Light Blight, now covers most of urban England at night. And still no one cares that the modern 24 hour day is killing off Life On Earth?

Noisy and gregarious, these cheerful exploiters of man rubbish and wastefulness, have even managed to colonise most of the world. The ultimate opportunist perhaps, but now struggling to survive in the UK along with many other once common birds. They are clearly declining in both gardens and the wider countryside and their recent declines have earned them a place on the Red List.
-----------------------------
Jenifer

house for sale by owner
