BES ANNUAL MEETING 2012
17 – 20 DECEMBER
UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM, UK
Thematic Topics
Thematic topics at the BES Annual Meeting highlight some of the most important and timely science in ecology. They are the scientific focal point of the meeting and provide the overarching structure. Topics provide a showcase and forum for the discussion of key ecological questions, vision for the future and encourage integration among disciplines. Navigate using the left hand menu to view the array of topics planned for our Annual Meeting.
Timely and well organised submissions from across the breadth of ecology are welcomed; this year, we particularly encourage topics in the fields of agro-ecology, biodiversity, evolutionary ecology and disease.
The meeting will include eight Thematic Topics. They are typically a half day session, including at least one 30 minute keynote speaker presentation and several 15 minute invited speakers slots. Discretionary time devoted to synthesis, summary, and discussion is possible. In exceptional circumstances, we will consider a full day session.
Each topic is allocated £1,000 for speaker expenses. Often, this enables international keynotes to be invited, but might be used for any purpose – possibly a post-session meal. The proposer is responsible for the selection of ‘public’ submissions to their topic, coordinate the booking and abstracts of their invited speakers and, with the BES, order their session talks.
