The BES Scotland Policy Group
Are you interested in informing the development of environment and science policy in Scotland? Join the BES Scotland Policy Group.
The BES recently formed a Policy Group for members based in Scotland.
The Secretary of the Scotland Policy Group is Dr Rob Brooker, James Hutton Institute.
What does the group do?
The Scotland Policy Group allows Scotland-based BES members to keep up-to-date with policy developments and to contribute to shaping Scottish policy through activities such as:
- Consultation responses;
- Hosting meetings to bring scientists and policy-makers together to consider issues of mutual concern;
- Policy briefing notes;
- Running training workshops for Scotland-based members.
The group currently exists as an online community with an email group and dedicated forum for members to share information and ideas with each other, with support from the BES Policy Team in London.
Who can join and how will I benefit?
The group is open to all BES members based in Scotland with an interest in ecology and policy.
Group members will benefit from:
- Keeping up-to-date with policy developments in Scotland;
- Developing contacts at the science-policy interface;
- Exhanging information and ideas;
- Receiving dedicated Scotland policy briefings from the BES Policy Team;
- Having the opportunity to influence environmental policy-making in Scotland.
