Student conference and meeting support grant
The BES has, in the past, received many applications from ecologists, mainly postgraduate students, from around the world requesting funds to attend ecological conferences and workshops not directly sponsored by the BES. As two of the Society’s Strategic Aims are to "distribute ecological research in effective and novel ways" and to "help create and foster the next generation of ecologists" the Society has created this new grant to help students cover some of the costs of attending relevant ecological conferences and workshops that they may not otherwise have been able to afford. In this way the BES hopes that more young ecologists can present their work to, and network with, ecologists in their related fields.
Please note that the BES does provide student discounts and developing country travel grants to its annual meeting and symposia but these are applied for either directly during registration process or through our travel grant for ecologists from developing countries to attend BES meetings grant.
Attendance at International ecological conferences are available through our attendance at ecological conferences sponsorship.
This grant is only open to current BES Master of Research or PhD student members.
Please note that the BES already provides 50% registration, accommodation and meals discounts for students attending its Annual General Meeting and Symposia, as a result these meetings are not eligible for this grant.
The BES does not provide funding to attend national ecological society annual meetings however specialist meetings and symposia organised by ecological societies are eligible.
Please note that this grant can only go towards attending conferences or workshops and not courses.
