INFORMATION

The 2010 British Ecological Society Annual Symposium 'The Integrative Role of Plant Secondary Metabolites in Ecological Systems' runs from lunch on Monday 12 April to lunch on Wednesday 14 April 2010 and is taking place at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.

REGISTRATION

Bookings will not be processed without full payment. Registration prices are: Members £250, Non members £325, Students £125. The registration fee includes the welcome reception on Monday, and teas, coffees and lunches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.. Considerable savings can be made if you book early online. There is an Early Bird discounted rate if you book online by 10 January 2010.

BES Membership costs £40 or £20 for students, retired or for people from reduced rate countries. Benefits include subsidised Journal subscriptions, 20% off Blackwell Publishing titles, member-only grants as well as reduced registration fees. Membership forms are available from the BES website. Non-members who return a membership form with payment of subscription fees together with the meeting booking, will be eligible for the Members' registration fee.

Day registration, costing £155, is available from the Registration Desk during the meeting, but anyone who wishes to book the conference dinner or accommodation must book in advance.

If your institution is issuing a cheque for payment, do not rely on your Finance Office to forward your booking form to the BES. On many occasions finance officers have failed to send us forms, which results in obvious problems.

When we receive your booking form, it will be processed and a letter of confirmation plus joining instructions will be emailed to you and up to two other email addresses (please state on the form which email addresses you would like the confirmation to be emailed to). You should keep a copy of the completed form for your records. Send your booking form by one method only, do not send copies via both mail and fax. Check your booking confirmation letter against your booking form to ensure that all the meals you require have been booked.

MEALS

The registration fee includes the welcome reception on Monday, and teas, coffees and lunches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Lunch is a two course finger buffet. The Conference Dinner is a three course, fixed menu and the price includes ½ bottle of wine.

ACCOMMODATION

Delegates need to book their own hotel accommodation if needed. The University of Sussex maintain an approved list of hotels and guest houses in the Brighton & Hove area. All of these establishments have been visited and approved by the University Approved hotels working panel and will be reviewed annually. The list is available at http://www.sussex.ac.uk/aboutus/findus/wheretostay. Please note you must still register for the meeting with the BES by the booking deadline.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Only BES Student Members are eligible for the reduced rate registration and a 50% reduction in the costs of the conference dinner. Students are not eligible for a discount on hotel accommodation.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The deadline for abstract submission is 10 January 2010. There are a very limited number of slots available in the programme for submitted oral abstracts. Unsuccessful oral abstract submissions will be offered a poster slot. If you are submitting abstracts to the meeting you must complete a booking form. See the BES website for full details.
