11 January 2012: Registration now open for joint BES meeting on 'Challenges to Scotland's Biodiversity: from the Soils to the Skies'

Registration is now open for a meeting being organised by the BES, the British Society of Soil Science and the Scottish Government's Biodiversity Science Group. This meeting will take place on 8th - 9th March 2012, in Edinburgh, and will examine Scotland's developing Biodiversity Strategy in depth, providing an opportunity to inform this development.

BES members attend the meeting free of charge.

9 January 2012: BES POST Fellowship Now Open for Applications

Applications are now invited for the 2012 BES Fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST). All second and third year PhD students of an ecological subject, based in a UK institution, are invited to apply.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 5th April and interviews will be held in London on Monday 23rd April.

You can now sign up to join the BES Expertise Database online. Previously members of the BES needed to complete and return a paper form to the BES office. Now, by filling out 19 questions (no more than 10 minutes) you can immediately access the benefits of joining the database:
