  • Help us to respond to consultations and inquiries. Members' expertise is vital for us to respond authoritiatively to Government and Parliament.
  • You can work with the Policy Team to ensure that the views of the ecological community are represented in decision-making at the highest levels.
  • 'Get Involved' with policy work at the BES

Position Statements

Our topical Position Statements inform debate and highlight the views of the ecological community. All our position statements are written and reviewed by expert ecologists.

Briefing Papers

The BES helps to inform parliamentary debate by working with MPs and others.

We work to ensure that ecological knowledge is taken into account in all relevant legislation.

'Ecological Issues' Series

A non-specialist? Find all you need in the Ecological Issuespublications. These publications introduce the scientific evidence behind current ecological issues.

Each of the booklets deals with one topic and represents work by a specially convened group of experts working in that field.

The series grew out of concern within the Society that a lack of information could lead to contention rather than constructive action at the time when many ecological issues are being considered in economic, social and political domains.
