BES Fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST)

Applications are now welcome for the annual, three-month, BES Fellowship at POST. This opportunity is open to PhD students in their second and third years of study in ecology, based at an insitution in the UK. Closing date: Friday 19th April 2013.


Joint meeting with Scottish Government Biodiversity Science Group (BSG) and Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (IEEM)- 19 – 20 September, 2013

The BES Scotland Policy Group is collaborating with the BSG and IEEM to organise a meeting at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in March. The meeting will focus on the revised Scottish Biodiversity Strategy, the research needs generated by this document and the challenges and opportunities for science to inform the development of biodiversity policy and practice in Scotland. Find out more.


Hitting the Target: Progress in Implementing the Nagoya 2020 Biodiversity Strategy

The BES and the UK Biodiversity Research Advisory Group (UKBRAG) are collaborating to organise a workshop at INTECOL (18 – 23 August 2013). The session will consider how we can assess progress in meeting the ‘Aichi Targets‘, agreed at the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (2010).
