BES Finance Committe, two vacancies

We are looking for two volunteers to fill vacancies on the BES Finance Committee, one of which will add expertise in fundraising.  The remit of the Committee is to ensure that the financial resources and property portfolio of the BES are effectively and efficiently managed both in the short and longer term. The Committee is responsible for overseeing the development of the Society’s reserves strategy and risk strategy, investment portfolio management, annual budgets and long term financial scenarios.

As a member of Finance Committee you would be expected to attend three half-day committee meetings each year in Central London. We have excellent video conferencing facilities so travel is not needed to fully participate in meetings.  You will contribute fully to discussions and deal with emergent action points between meetings as required. The Committee currently comprises a number of quantitatively minded ecologists, including someone who was a professional auditor in a previous role and someone who works in investment management.
