Representative for the Education and Careers Committee

The British Ecological Society is currently seeking a representative for the Education and Careers Committee.

The remit of the Education and Careers Committee (ECC) is to develop and oversee the delivery of the Society’s education, public engagement and career development. Projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaboration with others to develop and implement careers advice, events and projects for schools to post-doctoral levels.
  • A broad mentoring programme open to all members, with specific projects for women in ecology and others as required.
  • Support for HE teaching members and school teachers, and development of teaching and learning resources.

We value the diversity and wide range of perspectives that people from different backgrounds bring to their work and to ecology, and are committed to equality of opportunity. We would therefore particularly welcome applications from currently under-represented groups in the committee; these include applicants with a strong HE teaching focus, those from Scotland or Wales, and those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnicities.

The ECC meet three times per annum, remote attendance is possible. The successful applicant will initially be appointed for a term of 3 years. The role does not have any remuneration, but out of pocket expenses such as travel fares are reimbursed.
