The British Ecological Society (BES) is a charity that supports ecologists. Ecology is the study of connections between living things and their environment.
The BES has a large number of members all around the world. We support our members and the ecological community by publishing journals, putting on events, advising on policy, giving out funding grants, educating the younger generation, and much more.
The BES is a small organisation of around 32 staff. There are four teams at the BES; Operations, External Affairs, Society Programmes, and Publishing.
About the roles
The BES is looking for four kickstarters:
- Education Trainee
- Engagement Trainee
- Membership Trainee
- Publications Trainee
The main duties for these roles will include:
- Customer service
- General administration
- Word processing
- Data entry
- Event management
The four Kickstarters will sit within three different teams, however they will be in a cohort together run by the Education team. This is so they can receive training and development together, as well as potential cross skilling across teams within the cohort.
The Kickstarter programme at the BES will allow Kickstarters to gain skills in:
- Information processing
- Planning and prioritising
- Verbal communication
- Decision making and problem solving
- Other role specific skills
We particularly welcome minority ethnicities and disabled applicants to apply.
If you are interested in applying for this Kickstart opportunity you must send your personal Work Coach a journal message. Please quote “job title/N1 7GS” in your application. More details on the roles can be found below.
