Senior Volunteer Officer

We have a fantastic new opportunity to help engage and manage our vital team of volunteers!

Contract: Full-time, fixed-term contract (2.5 years)
Salary: £37,500 per annum
Working pattern:  Full-time 35hrs Mon-Fri| We are currently running a trial of the 4-day work week; staff can opt to work 32hrs over 4 days each week at no loss of salary
Location: Hybrid | We ask that staff spend at least 60% of their time at our London office
Closing date: 8:00am Monday 4th March

About you

Our volunteers contribute significantly to the delivery of our vision and mission, they support every area of our business, they are international and reach beyond our membership to the wider ecological community. It is essential they have a great experience and their expertise and time is recognised and valued.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication and team building skills and demonstrable knowledge of best practice in supporting diverse volunteer communities.

You will also need to have good IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office.


About the role

Reporting to the Director of Communities and Inclusion, the Senior Volunteer Officer will

  • Build strong relationships across our volunteering communities and staff to make sure we listen and learn to increase our impact
  • Develop and implement, monitor and evaluate processes for a fair and equitable system of volunteer recruitment, benefits, recognition and awards
  • Work with the Director of Communities and Inclusion and the Head of Membership and Communities Development to deliver the BES Volunteer Strategy
