Abstract

Soils supporting Rhizophora racemosa, R. harrisonii, R. mangle and Avicennia germinans are described. When they are drained, soils which have carried R. racemosa and which contain large amounts of fibrous root material from this species are likely to become extremely acid and toxic to plants.
