Abstract

An apparatus is described for separating benthic insects (such as Chironomids, Ephemeroptera and some Trichoptera and Plecoptera) from detritus. Separation is carried out by an electric current of 400 V D.C. applied in three bursts each of 2-min duration to induce electrotaxis.
