Abstract

The nature of the competition which occurred in a mixture of Norwegian and Portuguese populations was studied in controlled environmental conditions. The Portuguese population showed a competitive advantage at 7°C with an 8 h photo-period while the Norwegian population showed a competitive advantage at 30°C with a 16 h photo-period. Root competition appeared to be more important than shoot competition.
