Abstract

Multivariate analyses of the weight and plant nutrient status of aerial litter fall from four species of Coniferae were conducted using canonical variate analyses and a maximum characteristic root simultaneous test procedure. The annual contribution of ash elements to the forest floor by individual species followed the ascending order: Pinus ponderosa, P. lambertiana, P. nigra var. maritima, Pseudotsuga menziesii. Some comparisons are made with results obtained by other authors and general aspects of litter fall sampling are discussed.[116.04:498.9].
