Abstract

By means of factor analysis of concentrations of Cu and Zn in soil and of Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn in vegetation, the relationships between biogeochemistry, geochemistry and geobotany were established. Several plant communities, previously delineated by aerial infra-red photography, on Coppermine Island, New Zealand, were characterised by means of the chemical data. The value of botanical methods of prospecting is discussed.
