Abstract

An analysis of the arthropod pest complex on tea from 14 geographical locations showed that the numbers of pests depend on the length of time for which tea has been grown in an area. The area under tea became important only after allowing for age effects. Latitude had no effect. Tea pests reached a saturation level when bushes were about 35 years old; the level of saturation presumably depends on the richness of the arthropod species attacking tea.
