Population density, diet and breeding success of ravens (Corvus corax) and buzzards (Buteo buteo) was studied from 1975 to 1979 on enclosed farmland, open grassland and (mainly coniferous) forest of various ages in an upland area in the SW Cambrian Mountains. Results indicated that further tree planting would be likely to promote a reduction in the raven breeding population, but an expansion in the buzzard breeding population. Kites (Milvus milvus) would be displaced from some localities, but not from others.
