Abstract

An implant of 30-35 mg of Aroclor 1254 was inserted beneath the skin of 108 wild puffins (Fratercula arctica). Although the concentration of PCB was increased ten to 14-fold and PCB was detected in tissues in which it is not normally present, survival and breeding performances were not impaired.
