Abstract

Alternative models for the population dynamics of G. pallida using data from a field experiment in which nematode egg densities were observed before planting and after harvest of 6 potato genotypes with different degrees of resistance to G. pallida were compared. Four population models were fitted to the data. These are the models of Jones & Kempton (1978) and Seinhorst (1970, 1984), and two modifications of the Jones & Kempton model which are found to fit the data more closely. The parameter values of the models and the equilibrium densities are interpreted in terms of the resistance and tolerance of the potato genotypes.
