Abstract

A new framework for the management of agricultural nature and landscapes (ANLb) was initiated in 2013 in the Netherlands to be implemented from 1 January 2016. The core of this new framework is greater collaboration and implementation of ANLB in promising locations with regard to ecological effectivity and economic efficiency. A meeting of experts was held on 4 February 2014 to agree indicator species for 4 habitat types (open grasslands, open arable fields, wet corridors including swamps, lakes and streams, and dry corridors including woodlands, shrubs and hedges). Maps were compiled of potentially important areas for indicator bird species.
