Abstract

This document contains the experiences with land tenure governance in different Guatemalan communities: the formalization of land rights in the community of San Isidro, San Jerónimo, Baja Verapaz; local agrarian management in the Polochic region; regularization of indigenous lands in protected areas in the Sierra Chinajá, municipalities of Chisec and Raxruhá, Alta Verapaz; the exercise of traditional rights in indigenous governance in Sierra Chinajá; community territorial management institutions in Tasharté, municipality of La Unión, Zacapa; governance of municipal lands in Sibinal, San Marcos; and access rights and land administration for women. These cases are considered exemplary (each with its particularities) since they demonstrate experiences of good governance of land tenure.
