Abstract

Scientific knowledge for conservation has been accumulated rapidly across the globe but the research practice interface needs strengthening. Evidence based conservation aims to tackle this by (i) evidence synthesis and critical appraisal (systematic reviews, synopses); (ii) presenting evidence in an easily understandable and accessible way (synopses and decision support tools); and (iii) evidence based decision making helps to avoid bias, increase transparency and increase effectiveness.
