A terrible SPACE PLAGUE has arrived in London via meteor strike, and ecologists (specifically disease vector and control specialists) are needed to save the world!
Public engagement opportunity – SMASHfest ‘SPACE PLAGUE’, London, 17th – 21st February 2020
Get in touch by 6pm Sunday 1st December
We are looking for volunteers to join the BES public engagement team at SMASHfest UK! Help us develop the story for and perform in the immersive, theatrical ‘Space Plague’ adventure.
If acting isn’t your thing, we are also seeking demonstrators and image-explainers to join our pop-up Capturing Ecology photography exhibition running during the event.
SMASHfestUK is a narrative driven free-to-attend festival for all ages with a specific mission to widen participation and build diversity in science, technology, engineering and maths, STEM, through the Arts. The programme uses scientists and actors to immerse participants in a live ‘disaster survival’ scenario, where they must use science and cooperation to save themselves, and the world!
Located in the Deptford Lounge, London, community centre, this event is a great opportunity to gain experience in science communication and public engagement.
We welcome all enthusiastic volunteers, irrespective of experience level and ecological specialisation, who would like to help deliver our theatrical and/or photography exhibition components to a family audience. Volunteers will have all UK travel and subsistence expenses paid.
