Climate Change Teacher Toolkit

We are in the process of developing a teacher toolkit for teachers to confidently teach climate change to 16 – 18 year olds in the UK.  In 2020 the Teaching and Learning SIG and Climate Change SIG at the BES ran an event titled “What should all school leavers know about climate change”. Learning from this and subsequent findings the BES are currently putting together resources.

The resources developed will include videos, lesson plans, activities, policy and careers content, linking to current research. We aim to provide inspiring content made relevant to the students who will be participating. There will be further development of content into 2022 to expand on our current offering and engage with young people.

Student resource developer opportunity

We are currently seeking two undergraduate students to contribute to the development of the resources. This will involve helping to develop videos, resources and activities with training provided.

You will be expected to attend a one hour meetings every 2 to 3 weeks at a time suitable to you until 3rd December 2022. Further information on this opportunity and how to apply can be found here.

We are keen to work with other organisations to develop these resources. We are also interested to hear from schools who would like to pilot the resources. If you are interested in finding out more about our plans and would like to get involved get in touch with Amy Padfield.
