My name is Reuben Fakoya-Brooks and I’m the founder and Chair of the REED Ecological Network.

I studied zoology at the University of Nottingham and did a masters in evolutionary ecology there too. After that, I stepped back from academia and worked in clinical research in the pharmaceutical sector. I’m currently balancing working in social/psychological research for the NHS and being a professional photographer.

I founded the network on the basis of creating a space; a hub of support for ethnic minorities interested in, studying or working in ecology. Continually, as a by-product, also to help eliminate the preconceived stereotypes of an ‘ecologist’ by increasing representation within the environmental sector.
