Policy Alumni Network
Have you taken part in one of our policy workshops, shadowing schemes or internships? Do you want to share your skills or learn more?
We offer a wealth of opportunities for our members to learn more about the science-policy interface through internships, placements and training. Until now there has been no formal way for members to share what they have learnt, and discuss their experience with like-minded ecologists.
We are establishing a ‘Policy Alumni Network’ for members who have an interest in policy and/or have participated in one of our policy schemes. This group will complement the policy groups in Scotland and Wales, and work closely with BES Policy Staff to influence policy priorities and activities, and provide peer to peer support through an online forum.
Policy Alumni will also have the opportunity to contribute to the blog and policy resources. Further activities will be considered as the group develops. The network will be member-led, supported by BES Policy Staff.
We would also like to hear your ideas for the Network: what activities would you like to see? Contact Brendan Costelloe, Policy Manager to share your views.
Policy Alumni Network Objectives
- To extend the benefit of the policy training/scheme by providing further networking and peer-to-peer learning opportunities between members.
- To develop a network of engaged members that feedback their expertise to the BES policy staff.
- To empower members to engage in policy and make their research more impactful
- To offer members easier access to policy engagement opportunities through the BES.
