Abstract

A plough transect technique is described for the rapid sampling of scarabaeid beetle larvae in pastures. The number of larvae per unit length of furrow are calibrated for each stage and species of insect by establishing regression relations between furrow counts, and numbers as found by hand sorting core samples.[127.285.7:12.005].
