Litter fall in a New South Wales conifer forest: a multivariate comparison of plant nutrient element status and return in four species.
Abstract
Data on the weight and nutrient status of litter from four species of exotic conifer (Pinus lambertiana, P. nigra var. maritima, P. ponderosa and Pseudotsuga menziesii) were studied by canonical variate analysis and a simultaneous test procedure, based on the maximum characteristic root. Seasonal variation in nutrient concentrations is considered. Limited comparisons are made with the results obtained by certain other authors, and some general aspects of litter-fall sampling are discussed.
