Abstract

Gives results of measurements of the light reflectance of the bark, the type of stem-epiphyte cover, and the lichen flora of samples of trees of Oak (Quercus robur s.l. and Q. cerris) at 53 sites along a transect from Manchester to N. Wales. The data were used to estimate the extent of atmospheric pollution and were compared with physical measurements available for 16 sites. The frequency of occurrence of dark- and light-coloured morphs of two moth species was also examined in relation to the variables measured.
