Abstract

Significant differences in relative growth rate were found among cultivars of Festuca rubra and Agrostis tenuis grown under nonlimiting nutrient supply in sand culture. F. rubra 'Novorubra' had a significantly lower relative growth rate than other cultivars of the species. A. tenuis 'Highland' had a significantly higher relative growth rate than Boral. Leaf-weight ratio and stem-weight ratio relative to plant dry weight in F. rubra followed the ranking order Reptans > Novorubra > Dawson > S59 > Koket while root-weight ratio showed the reverse trend. Among A. tenuis cultivars, Boral had a significantly higher leaf-weight ratio than Highland but a lower root-weight ratio.
