Abstract

[See FA 34, 6805] From ring-count data from all known records of living and dead specimens over 70 yr old, the life-span of Juniperus communis was estimated at about 100 yr in southern England on chalk, compared with over 200 yr for some specimens in northern England and Scotland. Longevity is discussed in relation to size, reproduction, clonal growth and sex ratios.
