Sustainable use and trade of beef in Colombia: towards the operationalization of the legal framework.

Abstract

Evidence suggests that rural communities throughout Colombia consider meat as both culturally and nutritionally important. Thus, this paper explores various ways of optimizing the legal framework to help communities to overcome the existing operational barriers towards legal and sustainable trade. This optimization will empower local communities, ensure their livelihoods and help them avoid unlawful and unregulated practices. Likewise, it will allow for a better monitoring process for sustainable use of wildlife.
