Abstract

Results are presented from the modelling of alternative forest management and timber use scenarios in Germany under the WEHAM-Scenarios project. Two alternative forest management scenarios were developed in the project: the wood preference and the nature-conservation preference scenarios. The scenarios simulate different forest management measures and their impact on forest structure and raw timber over a period of 40 years. The wood preference scenario focused on increasing the use of wood as a raw material, while the conservation preference scenario focused on preserving and promoting forest biodiversity. Comprehensive results are available in the form of tables and maps covering the 42 cluster regions of Germany.
