Abstract

With a view of establishing five plots (10.4 ha) at the Natura 2000 area of Willinks Weust (municipality of Winterswijk) as part of PAS measures, Wageningen Environmental Research (WENR) has carried out a study commissioned by Staatsbosbeheer in collaboration with the Province of Gelderland and the Rijn and IJssel Water Board. The proposed measures concern the removal of the upper layer in previously elevated plots, a number of hydrological measures, the removal of a number of forest stands and forests, and forest edge management. The aim of this research is to collect and interpret information about the initial situation, to elaborate the measures in an indicative design and to make an estimate of the chances of habitation in the plots to be set up.
