Abstract
This paper describes the framework of the requirements for the sustainable use, management and conservation of aquatic genetic resources of relevance for aquaculture. The specific topics include information and databases; governance, policy and planning; infrastructure and equipment; capacity building and training and enabling the private sector. Case studies on fish breeding, the impact of exotic species and others are also included.
