Guides to better science: interdisciplinary research.
Abstract
This guide distils the main challenges that an ecologist might face when embarking on an interdisciplinary research project for the first time. While it is designed primarily for ecologists embarking on work with social scientists, many of the principles and strategies are applicable to anyone engaging in an interdisciplinary research project, across topics and geographical contexts. The guide explains how to build a strong funding application; build a research team; design a research project; communicate; collect, analyse and synthesise data; and publish the results.
