Abstract

The Back on our map (BOOM) project focused on the conservation of the maidenhair fern (Adiantum capillus-veneris) in south Cumbria, UK. Through collaboration with local volunteers and organizations, BOOM implemented propagation techniques, collected spores, and reintroduced 48 ferns to new locations. Community engagement activities raised awareness, reaching at least 170 individuals. Future efforts should prioritize monitoring reintroduction sites, identifying new locations for further reintroductions, and ensuring ongoing propagation efforts. Responsibility for continuation lies with Ann Kitchen and Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape.
