Annual Report: International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), 2017.
Abstract
The International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) is a unique applied agricultural research centre in the world that is focused on marginal areas where an estimated 1.7 billion people live. It identifies, tests and introduces resource-efficient, climate-smart crops and technologies that are best suited to different regions affected by salinity, water scarcity and drought. Through its work, ICBA helps to improve food security and livelihoods for some of the poorest rural communities around the world. This annual report describes the works and achievements made in 2017 in the following areas: (i) assessment of natural resources in saline and marginal environments, (ii) climate change impacts and management, (iii) crop productivity and diversification, and (iv) aquaculture and bioenergy.
