Abstract

This note deals with the climate change induced salinity intrusion affecting the livelihoods of farmers in Bangladesh and India, highlighting several potential adaptation measures such as developing salinity tolerant cultivars, applying climate-smart agriculture and water management practices, and adopting coastal aquaculture systems as an alternative for rice-based systems. The recommendations presented emphasize the adoption of a multisectoral approach to minimize the risks posed by salinity intrusion.
