The BES Parliamentary Shadowing Scheme Opens for Fifth Year

The British Ecological Society’s Parliamentary Shadowing Scheme is once again open for applications. The scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for early-career members of the BES to spend two days or more shadowing policy-makers in the UK or at the European Parliament. Previous years have seen participation from Defra – with shadowers spending time with both the Minister for the Natural Environment and the Defra Chief Scientific Advisor – Wales, Scotland and MEPs in Brussels. This year, policy-makers so far confirmed are Jane Davidson AM, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability and Housing at the Welsh Assembly Government and Chris Davies MEP.

If you are a member of the BES and completed your PhD no more than 12 years ago, do consider applying. Further details regarding eligibility and how to apply are available on the BES website.

The closing date for covering letters and CVs is Monday 31 January 2011.
