Don’t miss the Aquatic SIG‘s Annual Meeting this September as they bring world-leading ecologists working on marine and freshwater ecosystems.

There will be a fantastic line-up of keynote speakers with expertise across and beyond aquatic realms. Researchers will discuss their recent findings and priorities for future work which will, as always, spark interesting discussions. Students and ECRs will have the opportunity to present their research through Twitter, join practical sessions on R and science communication, and network with their peers. All workshops, talks, and discussion are spread over 3 days with plenty of breaks.

Twitter seminar

Last year the Aquatic SIG ran a very successful Twitter Seminar allowing aquatic ecologists to increase their profile and reach a wide audience (#BESaquaticECRTweets). This year they will do the same this, and particularly encourage ECRs to apply to take part. Please send a 150 word abstract to the Aquatic SIG by 17:00 (BST) 1 August 2021.

ECR Award

Are you an ECR or do you know an ECR that has no more than 5 years research experience after finishing their PhD, working on a relevant area of marine and/or freshwater ecology, and not holding a permanent academic position?

Email your nominations (self or peer, 1 side A4) and a summary CV (1 side A4) to the Aquatic SIG to be considered for the ECR award. The deadline to apply is 17:00 (BST) 31 July 2021.

The winner will be invited to present their research in a keynote presentation and receive the award (£250 towards continued professional development or scientific equipment) at this online event.
