The British Ecological Society – Scottish Policy Group (BES-SPG) is delighted to confirm we are holding an in person policy training session on the 4th of April 2024. Find out more below.

This in-person training workshop will provide an overview of the science policy interface, how evidence feeds into the process, and how ecologists and other scientists can contribute.

After a short intro to the BES-SPG and policy, we will have an engaging group activity. This will be followed by presentations from our panellists. Speakers will be announced shortly. A more detailed agenda will be circulated to attendees closer to the time.

Who is this event for?

This training will be delivered by experts from the BES-SPG and is aimed at ecologists, scientists or anyone who is interested in the environmental science policy interface in Scotland. We will not assume prior knowledge of policy, therefore, this event will suit all ecologists but particularly students or early career researchers who have not had a lot of prior engagement with the policymaking.

Date and Time: 4th April 2024, 11-3pm (additional optional networking from 3pm onwards at a venue close to the ECCI)

Location: ECCI, Infirmary Street, Edinburgh

Price: £15, (includes tea, coffee and a vegan or vegetarian lunch.)

Please note that this is in-person only, unfortunately we do not have the facilities to host an online element for this particular event.
