Key dates for BES2024

Keep a note of the following key dates so that you’re prepared for BES2024.

Each year our Annual Meeting attracts over 1200 delegates and provides opportunities to meet new colleagues, develop your career, learn new skills, and share your science with the global ecological community.

We’re currently in the process of planning, but here are some key dates to keep in mind so that you don’t miss the chance to contribute and attend.

Call for abstracts: Talks and Posters

Abstract submissions are now open from 18 July 2024 until 3 September 2024.

Abstracts for talks and posters are submitted online and should be no longer than 150 words. At BES meetings all presentations have equal status, so there is no difference in the standing of oral or poster presentations.

Registration

Whether you are presenting or attending everyone will need to register for the Annual meeting.

Early Bird Registration is now open from 18 July 2024 until 31 October 2024. General registration will close on 11 November 2024.

Call for Thematic Session and Workshop Proposals

We have now closed the call and published our full programme for Thematic and Workshop sessions.

What is a thematic session?

Thematic sessions complement the contributed scientific programme of our Annual Meeting by providing a forum for the exploration of particular timely, innovative, and important questions in ecology, and for highlighting the integration of disciplines. They are an important opportunity for members of the community to shape the programme of the Annual Meeting. Organisers of thematic sessions will be expected to organise the speakers and agenda.

What is a workshop?

Workshops are interactive sessions that encourage networking, skills development, and creative thinking. Workshops must involve audience participation and usually address at least one of the following workshop categories:

  • Education, training, and methods
  • Communication, engagement, and outreach
  • Policy, conservation, and practical applications
  • Crossing disciplinary boundaries (incl. social sciences, arts)

Workshops add significant structure to the meeting, offering access to aspects of ecology not found in posters or oral presentations.
